Having practiced medicine on both sides of the border, Diagnostic Radiologist Lee Kurisko warns Americans not to sell out their liberty for the false promises of government-run health care, such as he experienced in his Canadian homeland.
An engaging speaker and author of the timely new book, Health Reform: The End of the American Revolution, Kurisko presents a compelling case against government control of health care, and how personal freedom is lost under such a system. Health care costs are driven higher in the U.S. because of government intrusion in the free-market system. More government control will only worsen the problem—not fix it.
In Canada, lack of funding, antiquated equipment and physician shortages controlled by the Ministry of Health, made it impossible for Kurisko and his colleagues to deliver timely, quality care. Waiting lists for necessary tests and surgeries stretched for months, and people suffered and died needlessly. Kurisko deemed it the worst kind of immorality.
In 2001, he moved to the United States which offers personal freedom to patients and physicians, and abundant, high quality, accessible care. Congress is now threatening that freedom with its proposed health reform legislation.
